Even an act as simple as joining an athletic team or a church can lead to what Cole calls “molecular remodeling.” “One message I take away from this is, ‘Hey, it’s not just early life that counts,’ ” he says. “We have to choose our life well.”
The aforementioned takeaway is pretty simple and direct, yet it can take years to accomplish. Loneliness is an internal struggle as well, that eats away at our core, and when explicitly stated by that very person it can possibly do more damage and humiliate that persons perception of themselves- resulting in more harm. At times the lonely individual cannot take the first step due to insecurities, having a lack of courage, or displaying an extreme complacent introverted attitude.
Conversely, seeking to branch out of one’s comfort zone is increasingly difficult nowadays, with every move analyzed and put under a microscope to be judged among ourselves and our peers, it seems that loneliness will only grow when we fear and scrutinize our actual potential self’s, thereby denigrating our self-worth. By eliminating any fear or apprehensions that a lonely person holds, s/he will take the initial steps to love oneself, and develop multiple relationships with others.
